Aims

Know what mental health is, why people develop mental health conditions and the role of the first aider for mental health.

Identify a large range of mental health conditions and know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a mental health condition.

Understand the impact of substance abuse on mental health.

Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place.

Understand a range of mental health disorders and the support/therapy provided by professional health care providers.
This course is aimed at those within a supervisor/manager level within the workplace, as the designated First Aider for Mental Health. It provides a complete overview of various mental health conditions and characteristics. Identifying factors that can affect a person's mental health, tackling the stigma surrounding mental health and describes the support and therapies provided by professional health care services.
